Antarctica and Penguins

Posted on by Melissa Snyder

The past few weeks we have been learning about the windiest and coldest continent.  Antarctica does not have any native people, just scientists and visitors.  It is covered with ice and snow and is where the south pole is located.  Polar bears do not live in Antarctica!  Not all penguins live in Antarctica.  Actually only a few of the many types stay there.  The Sycamore children were fascinated by the Chinstrap penguins and the crazy “hair” of the Macaroni penguins.  They were shocked to find out that Macaroni penguins are named after an old hairstyle and not the beloved food of children.
