Make Plans To Be Here This Friday Morning For Breakfast!
Friday morning from 8:30-9:30 a.m. learn more about the school, the Annual Fund, and all the amazing things we do at West Side! MS students created a short video highlighting some of the great things they’ve done so far this year. Also, Nikita Ajmera, a West Side graduate, will be here to answer your questions about her transition to high school and future plans. Nikita is a senior at Notre Dame Academy.
Student Picture Order Forms
Your order forms are due this week for school pictures.
Student Organized Fun Night at the Corn Maze
Students have organized a corn maze activity at Leaders Family Farm. http://www.leadersfarms.com/
I hope you enjoyed your weekend. You may have noticed your student did not have much homework last week. We focused on math, LA, and outreach. They did not have any science or social studies work.
I hope students shared some of their outreach experience with you. They did a lot of amazing work last week – they even planted an orchard! I’d also like to say thank you to our parent drivers. You make our “Going Out Program” possible.
Cycle 1B Begins
We will begin Cycle 1B on Monday.
Science students will be going to Bowling Green Wednesday afternoon for a field study. We will return in time for carline. Students will have multiple field study experiences and guest speakers during this science cycle.
You should expect to see more work coming home this week with science and social studies back in session. Also, be sure ask your student to show you his or her binder each week; graded work should be organized by subject for you to view at any time.
Spots are filling up for conferences. If you need a specific day or time be sure to call school on Monday and schedule your conference. Conferences are student led; please plan on bringing your MS student to conferences with you.
Language Arts Unit Coming To a Close
Students are finishing their Cinderella Unit. They will have a test over Cinder on Wednesday. Also, students have their Cinderella Project due, Monday, October 14. I encouraged students to begin the project this weekend. Your student should have spoken to you about the type of supplies he or she needs to complete this project. Each student has unique ideas and supply needs. He or she should be able to use things that you have at home. But, your child may want something special, too.
Please discuss this project with your child. I am impressed with all their ideas and look forward to the final project presentations.
High School Visits
8th level students visited high schools last week. The next step is a shadow day. A parent must call the high school to schedule a shadow day. We encourage students to shadow on a day that WSM does not have school.
8th level girls are invited to NDA’s dress rehearsal for Shrek.
If you are interested in having your child attend a Catholic high school be sure to check out their websites for upcoming parent information nights, open house opportunities, and more.
Maumee Valley High School Visit scheduled for 8th level students on October 21.MVCDS Drivers
MS students will be taking standardized tests Monday, October 28 – Wednesday, October 30. This is the same week as conferences.
Have a great week and contact me if you have any questions!
