Magnets are on our Science self.  Children are discovering which objects are attracted to the magnet and what objects do not.
imagePaper clips, hair barrettes, iron nails get attracted to the magnet and are magnetic by nature.  Corn, plastic, felt are not attracted to the magnet and are non-magnetic.image

In our art area the children are painting with two colors of paint.  Mixing red and blue makes the color purple.

Cutting strips of paper with scissors and placing the cut paper in an envelope has been a favorite in the art area.

Come learn how opening up your home to your child(ren) will give them the gifts of independence, respect, understanding, and self confidence. It will decrease frustration levels and negative behaviors, too.

These monthly parent education programs are presented by WSM teachers and open to the public.

Since we have been stuck indoors with the frigid temperatures outdoors we have been doing our best to have some winter fun.  Our water table has been filled with snow that we are enjoying packing and rolling into snowballs.  This has led to discussions of building a snowman.  Since we cannot get outside to build an actual snowman we found a wonderful little kit that allowed us to make a mini snowman inside.  We rolled the putty substance into three balls and then added all of the embellishments to his body at the beginning of our morning.  At circletime we checked on his condition and we were amazed to see the difference in his body.  He melted just as a snowman made of snow does when the sun is warm!
