Rose Room Report
Pumpkins, Pumpkins Everywhere
The five little pumpkins are on our science. This activity teaches the children to sort pumpkins small to large, to count pumpkins and to learn about their color, shape and texture. We sing the “Five Little Pumpkins” song at circle time (and throughout the day).
The Five Little Pumpkins
Five little pumpkins sitting on a gate.
The first one said, “Oh, my, it’s getting late.”
The second one said, “There are witches in the air.”
The third one said, “We don’t care!”
The fourth one said, “I’m ready to have fun!”
The fifth one said, “Let’s run and run and run.”
Oooooo went the wind
And out went the lights
And the five little pumpkins rolled out of sight!
We also have a large pumpkin for pumpkin pounding! The children take a golf tee, hold it with one hand and use a hammer to pound it into the pumpkin. Then they get to pry the golf tees out so the next friend can have a turn!
