Cardinal Room is a Lower Elementary classroom for levels 1-3 on the Toledo Campus. Terie Alvarez and Deb Kelleher are the classroom’s co-teachers.

The Peaceful Peacocks journeyed to pioneer times with Karen Keebler. Karen is Ben Fisher’s grandma and volunteers her time at the Sylvania Historical Village.  She engaged us in pioneer games, clothing, food, and culture. We had so much fun and we learned so much. Karen, you’re awesome!

We began our study of the continents by understanding the relationship to the larger world and to the universe especially.  As we look ahead, we will be studying about North America and focus this year on the continent of Europe.

It’s difficult for young children to understand their relationship to the larger world – and to the universe especially. The Cosmic Nesting Boxes are 10 wooden boxes that demonstrate the concept of each space contained within a larger space.  These were customized with our city Toledo, our state Ohio, and our school, West Side Montessori. The boxes depict (from largest to smallest.)

These are amazing for showing the child’s place in relationship to space.
