Week 1 FUN!
June 13, 2014
Our Children’s House friends have settled right into a routine at camp this week. We are so impressed with this exceptional group of children. Even on the first day of camp, teachers were able to give individual lessons! In our Montessori Mornings, we have been having a lot of group lessons on classroom procedures and expectations. Many of these routines are consistent with our school-year Children’s House program at West Side. Here are some photos of great work choices our friends are making.
This friend was intrigued by the red and blue numerical rods. He was so careful with the work during the lesson. It is amazing to see such strong concentration in such a young child!
This friend is transferring objects from one side of the doggy dish to the other. She is strengthening the tiny muscles in her hand for fine motor skills like writing, cutting and typing.
These boys are all creating different artwork. They were very busy cutting, pasting and drawing. They were very focused on their work and were all very proud of their masterpieces!
Several of our friends chose the pin pushing project this week. The Puppy Puppet was a great themed project. Pin pushing is an excellent fine-motor skill that strengthens the pincer grasp for handwriting.
