How do our West Side students do when they transition to high school? This is a question many parents ask when considering committing to a Montessori education through 8th grade.
Max Shelton, WSM Class of 2019, is a great example of just how well prepared our graduates are for high school! After carefully considering several different high schools, Max settled on Central Catholic.
As you can see below, Max was more than prepared academically and he is already maximizing his high school experience:
Academics: Five honors classes (French 2, Geometry, English, Biology, and World Studies)
Leadership: Elected Freshman Class President
Athletics: Made the freshman basketball team
Max had the following to say about running for office:
“I became class president this year and it has been an amazing experience! Once I decided to run, I had to create 3 campaign posters and come up with a speech to explain why I would be the best president. I presented my speech to the 150 freshmen at Central Catholic and they then voted.
I felt very prepared for the whole process as West Side gave me multiple opportunities to be a leader inside and outside of our classrooms. West Side also provided me with good organizational skills which help me stay on top of my work."
As a self-motivated learner, confident communicator and compassionate leader, Max embodies West Side’s portrait of a graduate!
West Side Montessori is an independent, accredited Montessori school educating children 13 months through 8th grade (preschool, kindergarten, elementary school, and middle school). We are one of the leading private schools in Toledo and the nation.
