Lower Elementary Student Competes in Junior Olympics
Though Allen participated in Cross Country for two years at West Side, he just began running with the Toledo Elite Track Club this past May. Only the top 6 competitors in each of the 25 regions of the United States qualified for entrance to the Junior Olympics. There, Allen competed in the 200m and 400m races, placing 7th of roughly 100 other 7 and 8-year-old boys in the 400m competition and putting him at All American status in that category. He also set a personal record of 1:09.21 in the 400m, shaving 1.5 seconds off of his previous record.
