West Side Montessori Receives Ohio Arts Council Grant to Host Risa Cohen
During the 2023-2024 academic year, the Toledo campus of West Side Montessori (WSM), in collaboration with Risa Cohen, M.S.Ed, Creative Director of Sing into Reading, will benefit from a TeachArtsOhio Grant from the Ohio Arts Council.
WSM is thrilled and honored to be named a recipient of this competitive grant, which will fund Risa Cohen to come to WSM for 100 days of the 2023 - 2024 academic school year.
This program will help students ages 13 months - 6 years old develop music and movement skills that encourage reading readiness. The program offers students opportunities to learn and practice singing, dancing, and music-making in a supported classroom environment. Kindergartners will perform a concert in May.
West Side Montessori and Sing into Reading would like to offer their heartfelt thanks to Governor Mike DeWine and members of the Ohio General Assembly for acknowledging the importance of public funding for the arts.
