50 Years of Celebrating Montessori Education
Montessori education has been nurturing children for more than a century.
Since Dr. Maria Montessori opened the first Casa dei Bambini in 1907, this method has spread across the globe — grounded in a deep respect for the child and a belief in their natural desire to learn.
For over 100 years, children have unrolled rugs, chosen purposeful work, and built language with the movable alphabet — just like the sweet group pictured here spelling out “Happy Montessori Education Week.”
This year feels especially meaningful at West Side Montessori as we celebrate 50 years of being part of that global Montessori story. For five decades, our classrooms have reflected the same timeless principles: independence, concentration, collaboration, and peace.
We are honored to carry forward a method that has shaped children for over a century, and grateful to be celebrating 50 years of that work right here in our own community.
