My name is Brittany Turner and this is my 5th year at West Side. I began working at West Side during my senior year of college and I fell in love with the Montessori Philosophy. I have a Bachelors of Science from the University of Toledo and I am currently working towards my AMS teacher certification. I enjoy being outdoors and taking a walk or a hike. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends.

Maria Montessori once said "We must help children from the very beginning. We must give them the right environment because they have to adapt themselves to a strange new world. " I am inspired by the thought and care that goes into creating a true Montessori environment. West Side Montessori teachers take pride in preparing the environment for the children. Each classroom is designed to suit the needs of each child. All of the materials in our classrooms serve a purpose. Creating a space that is specifically made for the child helps them to feel safe and confident. It gives them the opportunity to have freedom of choice and to become more independent.

An important life lesson that I share with my students is to treat others with kindness and respect. In our classrooms we recognize each child as an individual, and we respect and appreciate our differences. As teachers we model and practice Grace and Courtesy in our classrooms, and we encourage the children to do the same.
