Anelia Zajac

Anelia began her education at West Side when she was just 18 months old, attending Little House at the Perrysburg Campus and Acorn to Oak.
Over the years, she has developed a deep appreciation for the arts, dedicating eight years to ballet at Ballet Theatre of Toledo and five years to violin, even earning a place in the Toledo Symphony Youth Orchestra for two years. Her passion for movement and expression also extended to cross country, which she participated in during Lower Elementary.

Among her most cherished experiences at West Side, Anelia found joy in art classes, where she could create without pressure, as well as the exciting trip to New York City, where she explored all the city had to offer. She also fondly remembers the National French Contest, a unique opportunity that added an element of surprise and anticipation to her academic journey.

Her Montessori education has prepared her well for high school, equipping her with strong skills in public speaking, presentations, and writing. She is grateful to have stayed through middle school, as it provided her with incredible opportunities—such as trips, Power of the Pen, and the National French Contest—that enriched her education and personal growth.

Looking ahead, Anelia will be attending Maumee Valley Country Day School, where she plans to continue her dedication to orchestra and ballet while maintaining strong academics. While she doesn’t have specific plans for life after high school, she is excited to see where her path leads. To younger students, she offers valuable advice: stay through middle school and take advantage of the unique opportunities West Side provides.

Reflecting on her time at West Side, Anelia is deeply appreciative of the experiences she’s had, knowing that staying through middle school allowed her to fully immerse herself in everything that has shaped her journey.
